Fall is such a great season with it’s fabulous weather, colors, and smells, but there is nothing more exciting than Halloween. People love Halloween for so many reasons. These days you can go over the top with both homemade and store-bought decorations, from elegant to tacky, both inside and out. The parties are so much fun for children and adults, and are often filled with scary menu items, devilish cocktails, Halloween games, costumes, and spooky music. And then there are the ghost stories, TV shows, and scary movies for those of us who love the scary side.
All that is well and good, but then we get to incorporate our love for one thing with our love for another, needlepoint and halloween, and all is right in the world!
For needlepointers, the choices are endless for Halloween stitching. Pillows, standups, and ornaments of everything from scary witches and monsters to pumpkins and fall landscapes. Nothing is more fun than decorating with our needlepoint.
Personally, I love witches and have really enjoyed stitching the Artist Collection series (guides by Pat Thode) and have several more to do. My Halloween tree is about full now, so I’ll be looking for another one to begin filling for next year. One of my favorites is my Happy Halloween tray. I have so many more Halloween canvases in my stash and plan to have more finished and ready for display next year. And what would Halloween stitching be without the matching accessories… magnets and fobs and even laying tools and I love to use them all.
Whatever your reason for enjoying today, we wish you all a Happy Halloween.
